Procol's Ninth is the eighth studio album (ninth including Live) by Procol Harum, and was released in September Produced by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Procol's Ninth featured a slightly different direction from the previous album, with a much more stark sound than Chris Thomas's more elaborate productions.

Nor could they believe that the boys would stoop to covering the lightweight Beatles hit Eight Days A Week and the Lieber-Stoller penned ditty, I Keep Forgetting. Though the original release of Procol's Ninth contained a couple of very good songs, many could not help but shake the feeling that Procol's Ninth sounded the band's death knell/5(51).

A unique sound combined with the production of Lieber and Stroller makes this album a great listen nearly 35 years after it was released. Ok, the cover of 8 days a week does not work for the band. Pandora's box, Fools gold and taking my time are classic songs. There are other gems hidden in this album. The one Procol album I never get tired of.

Procol's Ninth [Import] on CD. UK three CD set. Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the acclaimed Procol Harum album Procol's Ninth. Released in August the album was the product of a series of recording sessions at The Who's Ramport Studios in Battersea, produced by the legendary American songwriting and producing team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.

However, for those willing to keep a more open mind, ‘Procol’s Ninth’ features a handful of tracks that are both far more melodic and actually more enjoyable. The album’s finest four minutes, ‘Fools Gold’ takes cues from 70s rock and soul, serving up a hybrid of Chicago and Blood Sweat & Tears throughout.
